Research
Submitted by Ryan on Thu, 09/10/2009 - 6:23pmIngersoll Gender Center performs needs-assessment and basic community research to help Ingersoll and other allied organizations craft and refine programs and services, and to influence public policy to benefit transgender and gender-variant people.
Perspectives Northwest - Community Needs Assessment Survey
In 2006 and 2007, Ingersoll took the lead in executing, analyzing and publishing the results of a broad-based, needs-assessment survey for the trans and gender-variant community in the Northwest. The results of this survey have helped Ingersoll and other organizations to better understand the changing demographics and needs of our complex and diverse communities.
Empower Northwest Economic Needs Research
As a followup to the Perspectives research, Ingersoll is performing focus groups and an online survey to find out more about the economic and employment outlook for the trans and gender- variant community. It is common knowledge that job discrimination has been a serious problem in the past and continues to be a problem even in Seattle, even with laws at the state, county and city level to combat the problem. This important research will help us to validate these results and guide the Empower Northest Trans Job programming that will start in 2008.
Policy
Ingersoll works with state and local government to advocate for policies and programs to benefit the trans and gender-variant communities.
